Mosa Alhamami, PhD

Mosa Alhamami, PhD joined the Section of Clinical Physics Imaging as an assistant professor (CHS) in 2025.

Dr. Alhamami previously practiced as a clinical diagnostic medical physicist for several years in both an academic environment and private practice settings, following a residency training in diagnostic imaging physics at the Department of Radiology & Imaging Sciences, Indiana University School of Medicine. He earned his PhD in Imaging Biophysics & Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto, where he was a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Alexander Graham Bell Scholar. He also holds a master of science in Biomedical Physics and a bachelor of science (with distinction) in Medical Physics, both from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Where are you from?

I spent most of my life in Ontario, Canada, where I obtained my undergraduate and graduate training.

Why did you choose radiology?

Radiology is a dynamic combination of advanced technology, clinical collaboration, and impactful patient care. It allows me to directly apply physics principles to improve diagnostic accuracy, safety and patient outcomes, blending my passion for science and healthcare.

What are your professional interests?

I am passionate about advancing innovative imaging methods that enable noninvasive monitoring and assessment of interventional focused ultrasound treatments. Additionally, I am very enthusiastic about graduate student and resident education.

What are your hobbies?

In my free time, I enjoy a wide array of sports (including soccer, ping pong, tennis and basketball), traveling, and exploring new cultures and cuisines. These activities allow me to recharge creatively and maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
