On September 26th, Weibo Cai, PhD finished the Ride 5K in 18th place overall out of 414 participants and 3rd in his age group. Dr. Cai felt that “the 5K route was actually much more challenging than expected. There was uphill slope for most of the first mile, which made the whole run difficult.”
When reflecting on his running journey, Dr. Cai said, “I have not always been the most physically strong. I failed PE classes most of the time through high school. In college I started to exercise more, but I have not felt this good in more than a decade, and this is the first time I have got a medal in running.”
Dr. Cai is also a Ride Scholar, which receives a $25,000 grant to use toward cancer research and/or advancements in cancer treatments. You can also donate to his fundraising page: https://runsignup.com/weibocai
