The Section of Emergency Radiology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison provides a full range of state-of-the art imaging, which includes radiography, sonography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The section primarily supports the UW Department of Emergency Medicine locations, which includes the University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, and the American Family Children’s Hospital, a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. The department cared for 70,000 adult and pediatric patients in 2023.
Our section’s faculty specialize in recognizing acute traumatic and non-traumatic pathology in children and adults, from head to toe. In addition to treating patients, our faculty have published peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, presented numerous award-winning exhibits, and given national and international lectures on a wide-range of topics.
The UW Department of Radiology section collaborates with the UW Department of Emergency Medicine to advance our understanding of radiology and medicine, improve quality and safety, and ensure the best possible patient care.
