Yin Zhang, a 5th year Medical Physics graduate student in the Molecular Imaging and Nanotechnology laboratory, was awarded the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) Bradley-Alavi Student Fellowship.

As the first graduate student of the Molecular Imaging and Nanotechnology Laboratory, Zhang has performed exceptionally well, with more than 40 peer-reviewed publications at UW – Madison and 10 more in review/preparation. He has received many awards during the last 2 years, including Press Release at the SNMMI Annual meeting in 2011, 3 Travel Awards to international scientific conferences (WMIC, SNMMI, AAPM), and an SNMMI Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Council Young Investigator Award in 2012. Scheduled to graduate in June this year and going into a medical physics residency, he has received interview invitations from universities and institutions including Harvard University, Stanford University, Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, UCLA, UCSD, UC Irvine, and Mayo Clinic.

Bradley-Alavi Fellows are named in honor of the late Stanley E. Bradley, a professor of medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a prominent researcher in the fields of renal physiology and liver disease, and Abass Alavi, M.D., professor of radiology and chief of the division of nuclear medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. The award is made possible by the Education and Research Foundation for Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (ERFNMMI), based on Zhang’s proposal entitled “Quantitative Positron Emission Tomography Imaging of CD105 Expression in Breast Cancer Therapy.”
