Where are you from?
I grew up in Billings, Montana.

Why did you choose radiology?
My undergraduate major was Biological Basis of Behavior, and I worked in the epilepsy program at Stanford University before going to medical school. I assumed that I was going to become a neurologist, but after my initial exposure to imaging as part of the first-year anatomy course in medical school, I knew I was more drawn to the visual representation of disease pathology than the physical exam. Time after time in medical school, I saw how radiologists contributed to patient care narrowing down and often decisively making the diagnosis.

What are your professional interests?
I have worked in both academic and private practice radiology, and I find academics more rewarding because of the opportunities to teach and mentor radiology trainees. As a former program director, I found mentoring trainees to be one of the most fulfilling parts of my work. I also have prior experience in radiation dose reduction and CT applications in neuroradiology and hope to continue to contribute to these areas.

Why did you choose to work at UW–Madison?
Many reasons, including the people, the clinical environment, and the supportive culture.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with my family, supporting my kids at their numerous sporting events, gardening, hiking, running, and trail biking.
