Josh Martens, Tabby Kennedy, Ben Weber, and Jade Anderson met up for a mentor-mentee outing.

Established in 2023, the UW Department of Radiology Resident Mentorship program matches each first-year resident with a faculty mentor who helps navigate the intricacies of their new role and make connections during their training. Mentors regularly check in with their residents, offering insight from their own experiences and providing support throughout training.

One of the ways that mentors facilitate residents forming connections in the department is by introducing their mentee at a faculty meeting and sharing fun facts like hobbies, favorite movies, and career goals with the broader group of faculty members. Often, this sparks conversations between faculty and residents who have common interests while they are working together in the reading rooms.

In addition to the benefits to the residents, faculty members enjoy volunteering for the program, finding a sense of fulfillment.
