The Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) has renamed its Lifetime Achievement Award in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as the Ramchandani–Sadowski Award, recognizing the enduring contributions of University of Pennsylvania’s Parvi Ramchandani, MD and UW–Madison’s Elizabeth Sadowski, MD to advancing a culture of belonging within academic radiology.

“I am deeply humbled to be honored in this way by the SAR Board and Society,” said Dr. Sadowski. “Mentoring others in academic medicine has been my mission from day one. Being inclusive and actively promoting one another is how we all move forward in a positive direction, and it is an important part of academic radiology. To be recognized for this work makes me truly grateful—and hopeful that I’ve made a small but meaningful difference in the lives and careers of others.”

Dr. Sadowski is a well-known advocate for social impact and belonging both at an institutional level and nationwide. In addition to being a founding member of the department’s Women Professionals in Radiology (WPR) committee; she has led committees focused on social impact and belonging, including the American College of Radiology Committee on Women and Diversity as well as the SAR Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
