Faculty Spotlight: Jennifer Pitts

Posted on January 2026

Jennifer Pitts, MD joined the Section of Emergency Radiology as a clinical assistant professor in January 2026.

She obtained her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis and completed her diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, where she served as chief resident.

Where are you from?  I grew up in Westminster, Maryland but have moved a lot for school/training and military commitments. I’ve lived in Baltimore, MD; St. Louis, MO; Carlsbad, CA; Jacksonville, NC; Madison, WI; Scottsdale, AZ; and am now settling into Eau Claire, WI.

Why did you choose radiology?   I was always drawn to anatomy and I enjoy using imaging to solve the puzzle of a patient’s presentation.

What are your professional interests?  I have primarily focused on emergency radiology since graduating, but am grateful to have had opportunities during residency to gain additional exposure to pediatric and musculoskeletal imaging.

Why did you choose to work at UW–Madison?   UW was a fantastic training program that prepared me well for independent practice. I look forward to continuing to learn from other faculty as well as having opportunities to teach the residents.

What are your hobbies?   I have two children aged 6 and 8 years and two dogs who all take up most of my time at home, but I enjoy creative pursuits in my free time, including knitting and sewing. When able, I enjoy walking, yoga, and Pilates for exercise.
