Faculty Spotlight: Sarv Priya

Sarv Priya, MD, MBBS joined the Pediatric and Cardiovascular Imaging sections in 2024.

Dr. Priya completed his residency in India and received cardiac training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He pursued advanced cardiac MRI training at Boston Children’s Hospital, followed by a Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Priya completed a Nuclear Medicine Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as well as fellowships in Pediatric Imaging and Body Imaging. 

Prior to joining UW-Madison, Dr. Priya was an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Iowa, where he served as the Director of Cardiac Imaging and the Medical Director of the 3D Lab.

Where are you from? 

I am from Himachal Pradesh, a northern state in India.  

Why did you choose radiology?  

I love radiology because it combines medicine and technology. The ability to use advanced imaging techniques to diagnose and treat patients is rewarding, and the ever-changing nature of the field keeps me engaged and excited. 

What are your career interests and goals?  

My primary focus is pediatric cardiovascular imaging, and I am committed to excelling in this field while teaching and mentoring future radiology residents.  

What are your professional interests?  

My research interests include the application of artificial intelligence and advanced visualization techniques in cardiovascular imaging. 

Why did you choose to work at UW–Madison?  

I chose to work at UW–Madison because of the department’s strong academic and research excellence, which aligns with my professional goals. I was also drawn by the friendly and collaborative nature of the team and the extremely pleasant work environment.  Additionally, Madison is a vibrant city, offering a great community and environment for raising a family. 

What are your hobbies?  

In my free time, I enjoy watching basketball, crime shows and spending time with my family.
