Faculty Spotlight: Troy Tenbrunsel

Troy Tenbrunsel, MD joined the Division of Community Radiology as a clinical assistant professor in September 2025.

After earning his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, he completed his internship at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan. Dr. Tenbrunsel joined the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics for his residency and abdominal imaging and intervention fellowship.

Where are you from?
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, which is a suburb of Detroit.

Why did you choose radiology?
I found the synergy of diagnosis and problem solving in radiology to be both fascinating and endlessly challenging.

What are your professional interests?
Medical education, abdominal MRI, and ultrasound-guided intervention.

Why did you choose to work at UW–Madison?
After completing my training, I wanted to continue to work with and learn from experts in all aspects of radiology, many of whom have become my friends. UW also offers the ability to be involved in medical education as well as is at the forefront of imaging technology and innovation.

What are your hobbies?
Enjoying all four seasons, Michigan (and Lions) football, and sunsets at the UW Terrace.
