Biography
Alexandra Christensen, PhD grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. She earned her master’s degree and doctorate in medical physics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During that time, she worked in the Quantitative Ultrasound Lab and planned science events as chair of the Department of Medical Physics’ Graduate Student Outreach Committee.
In 2025, Dr. Christensen joined the Section of Clinical Imaging Physics as an assistant professor (CHS) and focuses on ultrasound. She specializes in quantitative ultrasound and leverages this training in clinical sonography efforts within the Department of Radiology, from developing quality assurance protocols to the clinical translation of new techniques and technologies. Her research interests include the use of quantitative ultrasound techniques to investigate tissue microstructure, especially in women’s health applications such as the prediction of preterm birth.
