Biography

Marwa Ismail, PhD received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Louisville, Kentucky in December 2016 and her master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt in 2008. She has been conducting research on neurodevelopmental disorders over the past 16 years.  Her PhD research involved developing a computer-aided diagnostic system for autism diagnosis from multiple imaging modalities, including structural and functional MRI. During the past 5 years, Dr. Ismail has been majorly focusing on adult and pediatric brain tumor research, where she has developed several machine learning algorithms for characterizing, evaluating response to treatment, and survival prognostication, towards cancer care and management.  Prior to joining UW-Madison in August 2022, Dr. Ismail served as a research associate and then a research scientist at Case Western Reserve University since 2017.
