Biography

Mosa Alhamami, PhD, MCCPM is an assistant professor and director of Interventional Radiology Physics in the Department of Radiology. He previously practiced as a clinical diagnostic medical physicist for several years, and was most recently an assistant professor of Radiology at UMass Chan Medical School, Beth Israel Lahey Health in Burlington, Massachusetts.

As a board-certified medical physicist, Dr. Alhamami’s professional interests include:

  1. Development of interventional, image-guided focused ultrasound systems;
  2. Cancer imaging using advanced molecular/cellular and quantitative MRI methods;
  3. Engineering nanomaterials for the delivery of contrast agents and cancer therapeutics.

Dr. Alhamami is specifically interested in advancing innovative imaging methods that enable noninvasive monitoring and assessment of interventional focused ultrasound treatments. Additionally, he is very enthusiastic about student and resident education.

He earned his PhD in Imaging Biophysics & Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto, where he was an NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Scholar. He also holds an MSc in Biomedical Physics and a BSc (with distinction) in Medical Physics, both from Toronto Metropolitan University.
