On Saturday June 9, a team of 41 cyclists, proudly presented by the Department of Radiology, rode between 19 and 100 miles for the Trek-100 Ride for Hope to benefit the MACC fund. Team UW Health was led by Dr. Bradley Maxfield, chief of the Pediatric Imaging section, and avid cyclist.
In its 23rd year, the Trek 100 raised nearly $10 million to help fight childhood cancer, which remains the leading cause of disease related death in children. This is the third year UW Radiology has participated in the event, and this was the first year they expanded their ranks to form a multi-departmental team to combat childhood cancer and other blood related diseases. Team UW Health rode in honor of their colleagues at the Carbone Cancer Clinics and their efforts in cancer treatment. This year the team raised nearly $8,000, tripling their 2011 totals.
Great job everyone!
