Pulmonary hypertension (PH) that leads to right ventricular failure (RVF) is a prevalent and fatal consequence of left heart failure (LHF). Discovering the time course and mechanisms of
progression of PH due to LHF and comparing with a pure model of RV pressure overload may
identify a key therapeutic window in which pulmonary vascular and right ventricular function can
be preserved while the underlying LHF is treated. Our goal is to advance knowledge of
these diseases and develop targeted therapies that improve outcomes in this common disease
state. All subjects in this study will be imaged using MRI.
