Musculoskeletal Imaging and Intervention Fellowship

More than a fellow, you will be a respected team member when you join our fellowship program. Our fellows are fully integrated into our Musculoskeletal Imaging and Intervention section, which includes internationally known experts in all modalities and many facets of bone and joint pathology.

Our program trains all aspects of musculoskeletal radiology, including sports medicine, trauma, arthritis, rheumatology, tumors, and infectious disease. We also offer robust procedural training with ultrasound, spine injection, vertebroplasty, biopsy and ablation. Fellow education is enhanced by numerous interdisciplinary conferences, including arthroscopy correlation, orthopedic oncology, rheumatology, sports medicine and instructive case presentations.

Fellows also join our family of alumni in private practice and academics across the continent, many of whom gather at national and international meetings, for which fellows have five funded days to present and five days to attend.

Research Opportunities

Zachary Clark Radiology Research Symposium

Held in spring, the annual symposium celebrates the high-caliber radiology research conducted by our fellows, residents, and medical students.

Our internationally renowned research programs are shining embodiments of discovery. Our department played a pivotal role in earning the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub designation and is on the forefront of the transformative work it funds. Our research labs and groups are innovating in such areas as machine learning, ablation and molecular imaging. Our resources provide support in statistics, IRB, grant administration and study coordination. Our collaboration with industry means we’re helping to build tomorrow’s technology through efforts such as evaluating GE HealthCare’s photon counting CT scanner and quantitative MRI for cartilage health in athletes. The Musculoskeletal Imaging and Intervention section also closely collaborate with the NFL and NBA on sports injuries, rehabilitation and return to sport.

A key element of our research efforts is partnering with our clinical enterprise to accelerate translation of discoveries into widespread clinical practice.

From helping with the research to presenting it on the national stage, opportunities to engage in research abound for fellows!
