This study involves comparing MRI images of the pregnant uterus and cervix to large-volume ultrasound images in the same subject. A specific aim of this study is to construct patient-specific computational models from MRI and ultrasound imaging data, in an attempt to estimate cervical “strength” during pregnancy. The long-range goal of this research is to investigate how impaired cervical mechanical function leads to spontaneous preterm birth.
