Show

History: 26 yo female with inguinal pain x 3 months.
Solution: May-Thurner Syndrome is a condition where there is compression of the left common iliac vein by the right common iliac artery. It places the patient at increased risk for deep venous thrombosis of the left lower extremity (as seen in this case). It usually presents with signs of DVT in the left lower extremity, including swelling, redness, and pain primarily. Treatment may include anticoagulation, thrombolysis, angioplasty, stenting, vena caval filter placement, or surgery. Outcome is usually good once appropriate therapy is initiated.
