Camille Garcia Ramos Receives NIH Grant For Work On Epilepsy

Camille Garcia Ramos, a graduate student in the Department of Medical Physics, has received predoctoral funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for three years on a National Institude of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Diversity supplement of an R01 grant “Neuropsychological Progression in New Onset Epilepsy”.

The period of award is from 10/01/2013 – 9/30/2016. Her primary mentors will be Clinical Neuropsychologist Dr. Bruce Hermann, Ph.D., and Neuroradiologist and Assistant Professor of Radiology, Vivek Prabhakaran M.D., Ph.D.

In the proposed grant supplement, Garcia Ramos will focus on using multimodal neuroimaging (fMRI, DTI), and psychiatric assessments acquired from pediatric epilepsy patients to identify prognostic biomarkers of behavioral outcomes utilizing a machine learning approach.
