Christopher Brace, PhD received a $50,000 one-year grant from the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) for his project, “Microwave Ablation to Correct Length Discrepancy in Children.” Orthopedics faculty member, Ken Noonan, MD, is a co-principal investigator on this grant.
The UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research funds projects that focus on cross-disciplinary research. Their mission is “to change the UW culture from ‘silos’ to collaborations among ICTR members and within the entire university.”
Dr. Brace said, “The overall goal is to arrest bone growth using precise microwave heating. The grant will allow us to evaluate the outcomes after dynamic antenna positioning, which we believe will improve treatment consistency and efficacy. This is a necessary step toward translation into human subjects.”
Congratulations to Drs. Brace and Noonan on this grant!
