Dr. Charles Mistretta Spoke as an Honored Lecturer at 2012 RSNA Meeting

Posted on February 2013

Last November at the 2012 Radiological Society of North America annual meeting Dr. Charles Mistretta of the Imaging Sciences Section spoke as one of 10 honored lecturers. His talk was entitled Breaking Angiographic Speed Limits: Accelerated 4D MRA and 4D DSA Using Undersampled Acquisition and Constrained Reconstruction.

Along with his colleague, Dr. Charles Strother, Dr. Mistretta recently introduced 4D DSA, an x-ray technique which adds an additional dimension to traditional DSA by producing a series of 3D image volumes at high frame rates. Not only does this technique significantly reduce the time it takes to complete the procedure, the amount of radiation the patient receives is dramatically reduced. The pair received a $1.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health this summer to continue their research.

This honor caps of an award-filled year for Dr. Mistretta. We are excited to see what he has in store for us in 2013. Keep up the excellent work!
