Dr. Grist Announces Plans to Step Down as Chair of the Department of Radiology

Posted on December 2022

After 18 years as Chair of the Radiology Department at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Thomas Grist has announced his desire to step down from his leadership role.  Dr. Grist has been a member of the department for three decades and has served as chair since 2005.  Under his guidance, the department has grown as a national leader in research, education and patient care.  He intends to continue in this role until a new chair has been appointed.  While he plans to pass the leadership baton to his successor, he will continue his clinical and research work in the Cardiovascular Imaging Section of the Department of Radiology, and plans to pursue some new areas of interest, like reducing the carbon footprint of medical imaging.  Dr. Grist leaves an outstanding legacy of leadership and dedication to the missions of the University of Wisconsin and UW Health.

The search for Dr. Grist’s successor will begin soon.  Please consider recommending this opportunity to qualified colleagues and send suggestions to the search committee (Contact: Dr. Benjamin Schultz-Burkel, Faculty Recruitment Manager, drbenjamin.schultzburkel@wisc.edu).
