Dr. Mary Ellen Peters, professor emerita of diagnostic radiology, has recently been unanimously chosen by the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association (WMAA) Awards Committee and Board of Directors to receive an Emeritus Faculty Award. Presented on April 26, the award is given to emeritus clinical scientists who have conferred outstanding service and commitment to the UW School of Medicine and Public Health in teaching and/ or research.
Dr. Peters, a graduate of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, joined the Department of Diagnostic Radiology after completing five years of post-graduate training. Dr. Peters made an impact through medical student teaching, where she supervised the radiology curriculum for more than 11 years. She received several radiology departmental teaching awards from the residents and was also honored with the Dean’s Teaching Award. Her work on medical student teaching was published in Investigative Radiology and she served on medical student education committees of the Association of University Radiologists.
