Dr. Pozniak Breaks Down New Joint Commission Regulations

Posted on July 2015

Myron Pozniak, MD, made headlines after a presentation on new Computed Tomography (CT) regulations at the 17th Annual International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT, held in San Francisco in early June. Dr. Pozniak laid out new challenges to radiology departments and spoke about protocol development.

New regulations from the Joint Commission as well as state and federal regulators will require more documentation per scan. This is an attempt to incentivize quality, according to Dr. Pozniak, although he questions the readiness of radiology departments across the country.

In addition, Dr. Pozniak also collaborated with Tim Szczykutowicz, Ph.D., on presentations highlighting the CT protocol project with GE Healthcare. In particular, Dr. Pozniak touted the efficiency of a team approach to protocol development.
