Q: Where are you from?
A: I grew up in rural Indiana, and have spent the last 21 years in Seattle, Washington.
Q: Why did you choose radiology?
A: I initially chose Neurosurgery! After completing four years of a Neurosurgery residency, I decided to change tracks. In Neurosurgery, we worked closely with Neuroradiology, so it was an easy transition.
Q: What are your career interests and goals?
A: I really enjoy teaching, both when that means educating the next generation of radiologists or when it means keeping other radiologists up-to-date on neuroradiology at national meetings and conferences.
Q: What are your clinical interests?
A: I’ve always been interested in emergency neuroradiology, and I’m sure my time at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a major trauma hospital, has contributed to that. Emergency neuroradiology is often interpreted by generalists or emergency radiologists in the community, but there is a lot of intricacy to that kind of work, that we, as neuro specialists, can contribute.
Q: Why did you choose to work at UW?
A: I missed the Midwest! Madison offers the best of both worlds – country and city – for my husband and me.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I have three kids, ages 8, 10, and 12. I also love crafts (like sewing or crocheting), working outside, biking and running.
