NIH Funding Awarded for Neurovascular MRA Research

Posted on May 2010

Professors Mistretta and Turski recently received NIH funding for their project entitled “Accelerated Neurovascular MRA using Compressed Sensing and Constrained Reconstruction.” The goal of the study is to develop methods to image the vascular structures of the brain in a fraction of the current imaging time. Imaging of patients with suspected stroke will be greatly improved. The new techniques will also facilitate detection of cerebrovascular diseases such as brain aneurysms, vascular malformations and arterial stenosis. The four year $1.486M award is supported by the National Institute for Neurological Diseases and Stroke.
