The Department of Radiology recognizes changing leadership roles

Posted on July 2013

The Department of Radiology would like to take the opportunity, as the academic year winds down, to say farewell to graduating residents and fellows as well as recognize the contributions of faculty as they fulfill changing leadership roles.

Mark Schiebler, M.D. – The department would like to thank Dr. Schiebler for his leadership of the Chest Imaging Section for the past 5 years. Dr. Schiebler has helped to transform the section into a vibrant group with both new and experienced faculty as well as an exciting research portfolio. Dr. Schiebler will be stepping down as Section Chief to pursue his clinical and research interests, including hosting the 6th International Workshop for Pulmonary Functional Imaging here in Madison from July 18-20.

Jeffrey Kanne, M.D. – The department would like to congratulate Dr. Kanne on his new role as Section Chief for Chest Imaging. Dr. Kanne is excited to add the role of Section Chief to his other duties in the Department. He will continue to grow the clinical, research, and teaching missions of the section.

Chris Francois, M.D. – The department is also pleased to congratulate Dr. Francois on his new role as Section Chief for Cardiovascular Imaging. Dr. Francois brings a wealth of talent and expertise in Cardiovascular Imaging to UW, and with his recent promotion to Associate Professor, he is ready to take on a leadership role in the Department.

Scott Reeder, M.D., Ph.D. – The department would like to extend its thanks to Dr. Reeder, who has been performing double duty as Chief of MRI and Chief for Cardiovascular Imaging. The appointment of Dr. Francois to lead Cardiovascular Imaging will allow Dr. Reeder to focus on leading the MRI program, managing his highly successful and growing research program, and developing his new role as Associate Director of the Medical Scientist (MD/PhD) Training Program for the UWSMPH. This latter role will undoubtedly have great long-term impact on the UWSMPH and our Department; many of our research programs benefit from MD/PhD students, and several of our top new recruits are MD/PhD’s from programs like this. Many thanks go to Dr. Reeder for helping to grow a dynamic Cardiovascular Imaging section over the past 8 years.

Christopher Brace, Ph.D. – Effective July 1, Dr. Brace has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. Congratulations!

Kenneth Lee, M.D. – Effective July 1, Dr. Lee has been promoted to Associate Professor (CHS). Congratulations!
