About the Pediatric Radiology Fellowship

Our Pediatric Radiology faculty is comprised of an experienced group of radiologists highly dedicated to excellence in both the care of children through specialized pediatric imaging and to the education of our diagnostic radiology trainees.  Currently, there is a dire shortage of pediatric radiologists across our country, and we aim to enable our radiology trainees to develop subspecialized skills in multi-modality imaging care for our community’s pediatric patients with the highest degree of compassion and professionalism.

American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH) is a 101-bed pediatric acute care hospital located adjacent to the UW University Hospital, offering advanced medical care directed by University of Wisconsin pediatricians and pediatric surgeons in a family-friendly facility.  We are a Level I Trauma Center for pediatric patients, as verified by the American College of Surgeons.  AFCH is home to a nationally acclaimed pediatric heart program, multidisciplinary childhood cancer team, neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, emergency department, and growing fetal intervention program.

Clinical training within our section utilizes radiography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of a wide spectrum of acute and chronic illnesses, seen in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.  Our referring physicians include prenatal care specialists, general and subspecialty pediatricians, and general and subspecialty pediatric surgeons.  Imaging exams including all imaging modalities and all body systems for the fetus through the teenage years into young adulthood. Fellows also rotate through our other Department of Radiology subspecialty sections to gain experience in additional pediatric advanced imaging: sports medicine (MSK), nuclear medicine, cardiovascular, and neuroradiology.
