Dr. Cai Elected To Three Leadership Positions In Cancer Research

Weibo Cai, Ph.D., Director of the Molecular Imaging and Nanotechnology Laboratory and Assistant Professor of Radiology and Medical Physics, garnered three positions already in 2014 which will enable him to continue to make a difference in cancer research and care.

Dr. Cai was invited to serve on the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) Imaging Technology and Informatics Scientific Peer Review Panel for a 3-year term from 2014 to 2016.

CPRIT, established by the State of Texas in 2007, will issue $3 billion in bonds to fund groundbreaking cancer research, prevention, and education services in Texas. It functions similarly to the National Institutes for Health (NIH).

Dr. Cai was also invited to serve on the Discovery Grant Panel of Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC). The Prostate Cancer Canada Discovery Grant program supports both junior and established investigators and allows them to pursue new, important directions to generate preliminary data in prostate cancer research. Dr. Cai previously served with the PCC in 2013.

Finally, Dr. Cai has accepted a position on the editorial board of Theranostics. Theranostics is an open-access journal that publishes research articles reflecting the fields of in vitro diagnostics and prognostics, in vivo molecular imaging, molecular therapeutics, image-guided therapy, biosensors, systems biology and translational medicine, personalized medicine, and a broad spectrum of biomedical research.
