Prof. Weibo Cai, principal investigator of the Molecular Imaging and Nanotechnology Laboratory , recently received the 2013 European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) Springer Prize for Best Basic Science Paper. This is the 3rd year that Prof. Cai attends the EANM Annual Congress, winning a major award each year. In 2011, he garnered the Springer Prize for Most Cited Paper, in 2012 won the Eckert & Ziegler Abstract Award, and in 2013 received the Springer Prize for Best Basic Science Paper.
Every year, one Basic Science Paper and one Clinical Paper in the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (EJNMMI) are selected for the Springer Prize, with the award presented at the closing ceremony of EANM Annual Congress. The annual EANM Congress typically has more than 5000 attendees, and this year it will take place in Lyon, France from October 19-23, 2013. As the official journal of EANM, EJNMMI now has an acceptance rate of less than 20% for original articles. EJNMMI publishes over 200 articles per year, with a 2012 Impact Factor of 5.114, which measures the journal as highly cited.
The awarded paper from the Cai group was entitled “Positron emission tomography imaging of CD105 expression with 89Zr-Df-TRC105.” As a special recognition of this award the electronic version of the article will be opened up and thus made freely accessible to non-subscribers.
