Two Radiologists Named Distinguished Investigators by ARR

We are excited to announce that Drs. Perry Pickhardt, of the Abdominal Imaging Section, and Beth Burnside, of the Breast Imaging Section, have been recognized as a distinguished investigators by the Academy of Radiology Research. This award acknowledges a handful of elite radiology researchers who have distinguished themselves within the top ten percent of all radiology academic faculty. Both Pickhardt and Burnside will be recognized publicly at the 2012 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting.

Dr. Pickhardt’s main research focus is CT colonography and colorectal cancer screening. His pioneering research in abdominal imaging has resulted in over 200 publications including book chapters and full textbooks.

Dr. Burnside’s research investigates the use of artificial intelligence methods to improve decision-making in the domain of breast imaging in the pursuit of improving the population based screening and diagnosis. She has published over 40 peer reviewed articles and serves as a charter member on the Biomedical Imaging Technology Study Section at MIH.
