The largest medical meeting in the world could be intimidating to some, but the experienced members of UW Radiology were presenting posters and giving lectures without breaking a sweat. The 100th annual meeting of RSNA was marked by awards and accolades won by our members, but more importantly, showcased the bright future of our branch of medicine.
RSNA, held annually the week following Thanksgiving, is so large that nearly every hotel room in downtown Chicago is booked for the full week. “It’s a zoo down there,” said Professor Ken Schreibman, M.D., Ph.D., FACR. But what an educational zoo it is.
With over 100 accepted presentations from UW Radiology, it seemed as if everywhere you looked there was a UW faculty member on stage, or a poster bearing the names of several fellow Badgers.
UW did not go unrewarded. More than 20 awards were given to UW Radiology faculty and staff, including a magna cum laude (the highest honor in the conference) to Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellow Scott Sheehan, M.D.
All in all, the biggest conference of the year went quite well for UW, and some of our crew have extra accolades to carry them into the new year.
RSNA ’14 Awards
Meghan Lubner, M.D., Perry J. Pickhardt, M.D., and MSK Fellow Scott Sheehan, M.D., were all selected for the 2014 RSNA Honored Educator Award.
Lonie Salkowski, M.D., was appointed Vice Chair for the RSNA Education Study Section, from December 2014 to December 2015.
