Weibo Cai, Ph.D., was named Vice President-Elect of the Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Council.

Guan-Hong Chen, Ph.D., was inducted into the College of Fellows of the
American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.

Vic Haughton, M.D., received the 2015 Gold Medal Award from the
American Society of Spine Radiology.

Reinier Hernandez, a graduate student in the Cai Lab, received a
2015 Amgen Scholars Alumni Travel Award.

Cris Meyer, M.D., FACR was appointed as Secretary of the
Society of Thoracic Radiology.

Scott Nagle, M.D., Ph.D. was named Chair of the National Resource Center Working Group for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Tyler Prout, M.D. was elected as Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin Radiological Society.

Susan Rebsamen, M.D. was elected as Vice-President of the Wisconsin Radiological Society.

Elizabeth Sadowski, M.D. was appointed as
Vice-Chair of the UWSMPH CHS Promotion Committee.

Mark L. Schiebler, M.D. was elected to the
Fleischner Society, a select group of thoracic radiologists that helps to lead imaging research and guides chest imaging.

Conference and Society Awards

Christopher Brace, Ph.D., Mircea Cristescu, M.D., J. Louis Hinshaw, M.D., and Fred T. Lee Jr, M.D.
received a Poster of Excellence Award at the World Congress of Interventional Oncology for their poster entitled “Vessel Occlusion during Microwave Ablation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Impact of Vessel Size, Proximity and Type.”

Justin Brucker, M.D., received a summa cum laude award from the American Society for Neuroradiology, for his presentation entitled “This Is Your Brain On Drugs.”

Michael Brunner, M.D., FSIR, FACR, received the Editor’s Honoree Award from the Society of Interventional Radiology for his paper entitled “An Economic Analysis of Sublobar Resection versus Thermal Ablation for Early-Stage Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer.”

Tabby Kennedy, M.D., received a 2015 UW School of Medicine and Public Heath Dean’s Teaching Award.

J. Eva Kusmirek, M.D., was awarded Poster of Merit from the Society of Thoracic Radiology for her poster entitled, “Granulomatous Lung Disease: Distinguishing Clinical Features and Imaging Findings.

Kenneth S. Lee, M.D., was awarded a Best Paper Award from the Society of Skeletal Radiology for a paper entitled, “Ultrasound-Guided Treatment for Refractory Plantar Fasciopathy: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study of Platelet-Rich Plasma Versus Standard of Care Corticosteroid Injections.”

Alan McMillan, Ph.D., received a Seed Grantfrom the American Epilepsy Society for his proposal entitled, “PET/MRI Imaging of Neurodegeneration in Chronic Temporal Lobe Epilepsy.”
