Biography
John Swietlik, MD joined the department’s faculty in 2021 and is an assistant professor in the Interventional Radiology section.
Dr. Swietlik graduated from the New York Medical College in New York City. Afterward, he completed his transitional intern year at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, WI, before entering the Diagnostic Radiology Residency program at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Following three years of diagnostic radiology training, Dr. Swietlik became the first Integrated Interventional Radiology resident in the department and completed his training in 2021. During his time in training, he worked on translational research in interventional oncology which he has continued as junior faculty.
His primary areas of focus are interventional oncology, where he works to improve diagnosis of and advance treatment options for liver cancer, and complex portal vein reconstruction. Personal interests include spending time with his wife and daughters, staying active, and exploring the great outdoors of Wisconsin by bike or foot.
