Comparison of PET/CT and PET/MR for Imaging Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) in Normal Weight and Obese Patients

This project was funded by: Radiology RD

The term of this project was: October 2016 to January 2018

The number of subjects scanned during this project was: 20

The purpose of this study is to compare the feasibility and reliability of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) Positron Emission Tomography (PET) using a PET/MR scan compared to standard 18F-FDG PET/CT scan for the detection of activated brown adipose tissue (BAT) in a cohort of lean and obese normal volunteers. Our hypothesis is that 18F-FDG PET visual detection of BAT will be comparable in PET/MR and PET/CT imaging.
