Carotid Plaque Imaging with 3T MR: We will be studying the ability of MRI to assess ex vivo carotid plaque histopathology using a new pulse sequence called IDEAL. We hope to find that vulnerable plaque has a unique set of imaging features that will allow us to use the IDEAL imaging method as a non-invasive clinical tool for investigation in patients. For this study, we will be comparing the MRI results with those obtained from CT and from pathology reports.
