Biography
Reinier Hernandez, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medical Physics and Radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he leads the Advanced Radiotheranostic Laboratory (ART). His contributions to radiopharmaceutical therapy and immunomodulation have been critical to several interdisciplinary grants from the NIH and DoD, including a first-in-class PO1 program grant in radiation immunomodulation. He co-leads the Radionuclide Production and Radiopharmaceutical core within this grant. Dr. Hernandez's scientific accomplishments include more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, several international patents, and dozens of oral presentations at national and international conferences. For his scholarly activities, Dr. Hernandez was recognized as one of the "Ones to Watch" for 2020 by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). Dr. Hernandez’s research focuses on developing novel radiopharmaceuticals for therapy and diagnostics of cancer and other diseases. His research group emphasizes benchtop-to-bedside research to translate fundamental discoveries into life-saving technologies.
