Health care decisions are increasingly being rigorously guided by the cost effectiveness of treatment and their outcomes. Traditional programs for medical imaging training lack exposure to the business principles necessary to successfully manage a radiology department in this rapidly changing healthcare economy.
In cooperation with the Wisconsin School of Business, the UW Department of Radiology offers the Combined MRI/MBA Fellowship program in which participants complete a weekend Executive MBA program and a clinical MRI fellowship.
Hired as a clinical instructor, you will received advanced training in clinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and provide independent clinical services at the UW Hospital and Clinics and other outreach sites. You will receive additional compensation for the clinical work through the department’s moonlighting program.
Over the two-year program, you will have dedicated academic time tailored to meet your needs. The composition of the clinical MRI schedule, call responsibilities and the total compensation package are designed to meet the requirements of both curricula.
Upon completion of the program, you will have the clinical skills and business acumen to navigate the complex healthcare economy.

Research Opportunities
Zachary Clark Radiology Research Symposium
Held in spring, the annual symposium celebrates the high-caliber radiology research conducted by our fellows, residents, and medical students.
Our internationally renowned research programs are shining embodiments of discovery. Our department played a pivotal role in earning the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub designation and is on the forefront of the transformative work it funds. Our research labs and groups are innovating in such areas as machine learning, ablation and molecular imaging. Our collaboration with industry means we’re helping to build tomorrow’s technology through efforts such as evaluating GE HealthCare’s photon counting CT scanner. Our resources provide support in statistics, IRB, grant administration and study coordination.
A key element of our research efforts is partnering with our clinical enterprise to accelerate translation of discoveries into widespread clinical practice.
From helping with the research to presenting it on the national stage, opportunities to engage in research abound for fellows!
